Timely repair of concrete structures

Corrosion of the steel reinforcement is one of the most widespread degradation mechanisms in reinforced concrete structures as on bridges, tunnels or garages. The main challenge today is to determine the right time for repair. However, an accurate diagnosis of the condition of a structure is hardly possible at present. DuraMon aims to address this with an embeddable wireless multifunctional sensor node. For the first time, this can continuously monitor all parameters relevant to corrosion: pH, chloride content, concrete’s electrical resistance, steel potential and temperature. Thanks to smart data analysis, the sensors enable reliable corrosion diagnosis and prediction of reinforced concrete structures. This optimizes the maintenance and repair of structures and reduces corrosion costs, while ensuring safety.
