For next-generation transistors

Today, transistors are key components in quantum processors (qubits), IoT sensors and computer chips. Pioneer Fellow Natanael Lanz believes that the integration of nanomaterials into transistors will be crucial in overcoming the limits of today’s technology. Nanotransistors are more powerful, although producing them has so far been a slow, complex manual process.

Building on a collaborative project involving EMPA, EPFL and ETH Zurich, Chiral is now able to integrate nanomaterials into transistors using a fully automatic process – at high speed, high quality and with full process control. The technology makes it possible to scale up high-quality nanotechnology, even to the level of industrial production.
