Numerous individuals, foundations and companies supported ETH last year with more than 3,500 donations, bequests and legacies amounting to over 160 million Swiss Francs.

Targeted funding for groundbreaking projects

The contributions provided impetus for development in areas where society urgently needs innovation: for example, Marco Hutter received the Rössler Prize – made possible by the donor Max Rössler – for his groundbreaking research in the field of robotics. In collaboration with ETH, the Bosch Health Campus launched a fellowship programme for patient-centric AI-based solutions in healthcare, while funding from the Georg H. Endress Foundation allowed the Student Project House to be expanded with a Life Sciences Makerspace.

Investment in the future

Numerous donors, foundations and companies renewed their commitment to young talent. Support for students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, outstanding Master’s students and up-and-coming young entrepreneurs strengthens the economy and society in the long term by fostering well-trained specialists with diverse backgrounds and ambitions. At the same time, it provides a framework for a key aspect of philanthropy at ETH Zurich: personal interactions between donors and recipients, along with mutual inspiration that often bears fruit for many years, as illustrated by the various profiles in the annual report 2024.
