Traditional wheelchairs often require laborious two-handed steering maneuvers that are not only strenuous but also detrimental to health over time. Young entrepreneurs Stefan Villiger and Reto Togni have developed a new steering system designed to significantly improve the daily lives of people with mobility impairments. Their “Steering-by-Leaning” system allows wheelchair users to intuitively control the direction by body movements, thanks to a special backrest that serves as a steering wheel. This innovation enables wheelchair users to move more dynamically and freely.
