An Ultralight Instrument for the Improved Assessment of Skin Condition

The skin is our biggest organ and has several vitally important functions. Many diseases such as skin fibrosis modify the skin microstructure. The unaided eye and touch only notice such modifications late in the disease process. In order to improve the early detection of skin diseases, CITUS developed an ultralight instrument for detecting diseased tissue on a wide scale, all the way to microscopic dimensions. Thanks to its low weight it can serve as a diagnostic tool for the early detection skin diseases. Conversely, the cosmetics industry may use it for investigating the effects of skin care products.
