Giving with purpose
Through a legacy, you may leave the ETH Zurich Foundation a fixed amount, a specific share of your assets, a property or particular valuables, and specify how you would like these assets to be allocated. By naming the ETH Zurich Foundation as a co-heir, you can leave it a percentage of your estate.

As a charitable foundation, the ETH Zurich Foundation is exempt from inheritance and gift tax. Its operating expenses are funded using the capital income from all its managed assets.
This way, 100 percent of your legacy benefits ETH Zurich and the purpose you have chosen.
Whatever form your support may take, it is important to observe the legal requirements (a handwritten will or a notarised inheritance contract). It is also advisable to appoint an executor.
Especially in the case of complex legacies, involving a professional and independent executor can be very helpful.

To this end, we have established dedicated foundations in the United States and Germany. This ensures that donations and legacies can be made tax-exempt in these countries.
For other countries, we work with you to develop tailored solutions so that your intentions can be realised across borders.
Yes, you can do so with an earmarked or un-earmarked donation via our website or by bank transfer. You may also wish to consider establishing a fund in your name.
