Smart clothing for better rehabilitation
The ageing population is placing increasing pressure on healthcare systems worldwide. With SmrtMov, Pioneer Fellow Chakaveh Ahmadizadeh is developing a smart garment that combines highly sensitive fibres with AI algorithms to support rehabilitation after surgeries such as joint replacements, providing precise support regardless of location.
The system enables continuous motion analysis in everyday settings, without the need for cameras or complex electronics. Patients can objectively track their recovery progress, while doctors and therapists can tailor and monitor treatment plans more effectively.
As part of the Pioneer Fellowship, the young researcher is working to scale up this textile technology and sustainably improve patient care.
