Georg H. Endress Foundation enables Life Sciences Makerspace
Through a generous donation to ETH Zurich, the Georg H. Endress Foundation enables the Student Project House (SPH) to expand its scope. Thanks to a new Life Sciences Makerspace, the SPH can offer numerous students from previously underrepresented subject areas such as chemistry and biosciences the opportunity to pursue their creative ideas outside the curriculum.
Thanks to the support from the Georg H. Endress Foundation, ETH Zurich can expand the Student Project House with a Life Sciences Makerspace. This will allow students from the fields of chemistry and life sciences to further develop their social and methodological skills and advance their ideas alongside their studies.
Strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration
The planned Makerspace specifically targets students from disciplines that are currently underrepresented at SPH. “With the new Life Sciences Makerspace, we are creating a modern laboratory environment where our students can experiment, test ideas, and drive projects forward.
Ultimately, everyone benefits from this increased diversity, as it fosters the creation of more interdisciplinary projects,” says Professor Günther Dissertori, Rector of ETH Zurich.
Long-term impact
Sarah Endress, President of the Georg H. Endress Foundation, emphasises: “We are delighted that our support enables students to realise their ideas in a hands-on environment. The diverse experiences and innovative approaches will, in the long run, also benefit the wider economy.”
