Treating brain disorders with ultrasound
Using millimetre precision to tackle brain disorders
Advancements in treating brain disorders are on the cusp of a breakthrough. Researchers at ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich have pioneered an innovative technology that delivers medications with pinpoint accuracy directly into the affected brain regions and does not impact other brain areas.
Our goal
The research pursued at the Institute for Biomedical Engineering at ETH Zurich aims to employ ultrasound technology to transport highly potent substances with precision to those parts of the brain where they can have the greatest effect. This technology could mark a significant step towards a world where neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders can be treated successfully with fewer side effects.
Your support enables
- preclinical and clinical studies to advance this promising technology;
- more effective treatments for brain disorders with fewer side effects;
- a potential milestone to be met in the treatment of brain disorders.
