Fracture specific bone plates to fix bone fractures

Periarticular fractures can be complex in nature, resulting in struggling and time-consuming procedures for the treating orthopaedic surgeon. In complex cases, there is still a large portion of intraoperative trialing to find a good fixation construct providing initial stability.

Thomas Zumbrunn proposes that patient and fracture specific bone plates could optimize fracture stability, resulting in improved outcomes and reduced surgical time. A case specific surgical plan can be implemented to improve the intraoperative workflow and realize a less invasive treatment option.
