Safe heart implants without risk of infection

Implants are often the only salvation for people with serious heart conditions. However, the cables that supply the implants with energy can damage the skin and cause infections. This often leads to increased hospital stays and reduced chances of survival for patients. Pioneer Fellow Andreas Kourouklis is working on a new method to make such implants safer and prevent infections.
