Metal foams for efficient cooling

By the year 2030, up to six percent of global energy consumption will be used for cooling electronic devices. More efficient cooling systems are needed to overcome current energy shortages and to reach ambitious climate protection goals. There is where apheros comes in: the company uses its high-tech know-how to produce metal foams for cooling purposes. Foams by apheros have extensive surface area and high conductivity – a combination of properties that make them three times more efficient than current cooling solutions. Additionally, these foams have robust mechanical properties that make them promising for a range of other applications such as electrodes and catalyst substrates.
